What brought me here?

I was stressed. I didn’t have time. I wanted to keep feeling healthy.

This was me in 2014.

I had lost 40 pounds in 2011 and wanted to continue that journey, but after moving to Charlotte, I wasn’t feeling my best mentally. I’ve always loved moving my body—soccer, running, cycling. I’ve always been a doer. An achiever. I graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and an MBA, and had been working in an office/manufacturing environment for over five years.

On paper, everything looked right. But I wasn’t happy.

I had been going to yoga and fitness classes since I was 18, so in Charlotte I started trying different classes as a way to explore the city and stay consistent. Eventually, I found myself coming back to yoga again and again—and I just felt better.

Because I love learning, I wanted to understand why.

In 2017, I signed up for yoga teacher training. Not because I wanted to teach, but because I wanted to understand what was happening in my body and mind. I didn’t even consider myself a “yogi” until I was walking down a street in Barcelona, studying for an exam, and thought—well, I guess I am a yogi. Ha.

What I came to understand is that yoga helped me because of its impact on my nervous system. It helped me feel more grounded, more steady, more like myself.

And once I understood that, I wanted to share it.

I wanted to help people who felt like I did.
I wanted people to feel at home in their body and mind.
I wanted people to know that if they wanted something different from what’s “normal,” that was okay.
I didn’t want people to feel alone.

The big shift…

Then in 2018, things really shifted.

My husband Andrew and I decided to convert a cargo van into a campervan and travel. So we did. We spent the better part of a year dismantling our old way of life and building a new one—one with more freedom, less stuff, and more time.

We traveled all over the U.S. and Canada with our dog, Dexter. And during that year, we realized we wanted to re-engineer our lives. So we did.

Through that experience, I learned that connection to my body—through movement, breath, and time in nature—could heal me in ways I didn’t fully understand before. And not just once, but over and over again.

That’s what led me here.

I want to create a space where people feel accepted for who they are, and also gently challenged to move beyond the beliefs that hold them back.

So let’s do this together.

Let’s explore the why behind the how.
Let’s go for a hike, lift weights, flow, or just breathe.
Let’s work with our nervous systems instead of against them.
Let’s try things. Experiment. Stay curious.

Let’s find the things that put the air back in your tires—
so you can keep moving forward in this life.

Let’s be Fit for this Journey.

No Shaming…

I started yoga with Hillary 18 months ago. I look forward to each class as a treat for myself. Hillary is knowledgeable, inspiring, encouraging and calming. She always offers a modification if the position is too hard. No shaming either as she accepts where I am each day. My practice with Hillary has improved my balance and flexibility tremendously. From this 60 something year old, try a class, you’ll thank yourself!
